Condong Mill 

 

Condong Mill is located on the Tweed River just north of Murwillumbah in New South Wales.

The mill commenced operations on 16 August 1880 crushing 5,564 tons of cane and producing 356 tons of raw sugar during that first season.

 Broadwater Mill

 

Broadwater mill is situated on the Richmond River south of Ballina in New South Wales.

It commenced operations in 1881 and by the 1890's was crushing 900 tons of cane per day and was the most important sugar factory in Australia.


 

Harwood Mill 

 

Harwood sugar mill is located on the Clarence River north of Grafton in New South Wales.

Colonial Sugar Refinery commenced sugar operations on the Clarence River in 1870. In 1873 they moved the Darkwater mill from the Macleay to the present day Harwood Island site.

Harwood mill then commenced operations in 1874 and remains the oldest operating mill in Australia.

The first crop was 25,550 ton of cane and the crushing rate was 10 ton per hour.

Harwood Refinery 

 

The Manildra Harwood Sugars refinery is located at the Harwood mill site north of Grafton in New South Wales.

The refinery commenced operations in September 1989 and is a joint venture between the NSW Sugar Milling Co-operative Limited and Manildra Group.

The refinery produces a wide range of white sugars mainly for the domestic commercial market.
